Value of the Profession Campaign At ts meeting on January 21, the TCMA Board unanimously approved a recommendation from the TCMA ICMA-issues Task Force to provide a significant financial contribution to the Life, Well Run Value of the Profession campaign being coordinated by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). The TCMA Board approved an initial $50,000 contribution, with an additional $50,000 pledge when half of the planned project's budget is raised. On Friday, February 25, TCMA ceremoniously handed a check to ICMA Executive Director Bob O'Neill and ICMA President Dave Childs in Austin. The estimated cost of the campaign is $5 million, with $4 million expected from private sector donors and a goal of raising $1 million from members. To date, nearly $170,000 in gifts and pledges, from 289 members and 24 state and assistants' associations, has been raised.

If you would like to pledge your support for the campaign or make a one-time gift, all contributions are tax-deductible and count toward a donor's annual and cumulative giving totals for the Fund. Ronnie Brossmann retired as city administrator for the City of Schulenberg. Bruce D. Glasscock is the new city manager for the City of Plano. Jason Gray will begin serving as the new city manager for the City of McKinney on March 21. David Huseman is no longer the city manager for the City of Gonzales. Judy Miller is the city manager for the City of Granite Shoals. David Neeley is the new city manager for the City of College Station. Mike Ohrt is the new city manager for the City of Palestine. Raul Rodriguez is the new city manager for the City of Fort Stockton. Margie Rose (current assistant city manager) is the interim city manager for the City of Corpus Christi. TCMA Board policy requires that names of new member applicants be published each month in the Management Messenger. Any written objection during the subsequent 30-day period will be reviewed by the TCMA Membership Committee. TCMA Membership Directory Update It's time for the annual update of the TCMA Online Membership Directory and the printed directory. It is important for all members to review their contact information in order to have accurate records. The ICMA-Issues Task Force met on January 13 at the Texas Municipal Center. To view the meeting minutes, please click on ICMA-Issues Minutes. The Membership Committee met via conference call on February 11. A recommendation will be made to the Board for Professional Award recipients. TCMA would like to recognize its members who have reached service milestones. These individuals will be recognized at the TCMA Annual Conference Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 10. The service awards honor TCMA members who have been "Full" or "Associate" members and in full-time service as an appointed employee of a local government entity for a minimum of 20 years. Although TCMA and ICMA are similar organizations, their criteria for service awards are not identical. The criteria in the TCMA Constitution are as follows:
